These panels are fantastic! Really. I replaced four old troffers in a drop ceiling, so I no longer have the bulky fixtures with failing ballasts and cruddy looking plastic lens covers, and I no longer have to replace 4-foot tube lights! The most difficult part of the job was removing the old troffers, especially considering their bulk and weight. But once that was done, the new LED panels were actually a pleasure to install. I am looking forward to NOT having all of the headaches associated with those old troffer fixtures! The LED panels went up very quickly and they look so much nicer than those old fluorescents. They are very bright, which is what I wanted for my basement, but consider how much light you really want in your new space, especially if you have low ceilings like I do. My photos show a comparison of the new panel and the old troffer.I decided not to install a dimmer switch for my configuration, so I cannot speak to that. However, I do like the quick-connect wire module so I did not have to use wire nuts. The one wish-list item I have is related to the knockout on the junction box that is attached to the back of each panel. I would prefer to feed the source wire (Romex) into the box at the edge of the panel, since that is exactly how fluorescent troffers are installed. That would ensure that existing wire lengths are adequate for the new panels. I did need to extend a couple of source wires that did not have enough slack from the prior installation. Maybe not all troffers accept a source wire from the edge, though.I plan to buy more of these in a 2x2 form for the garage.
