Only comes with a two and six inch drop. I need a four inch but am told by a local vendor that doesn't exist. Also wanted black. Still a gorgeous fixture.Casablanca Fans. In a word, they are the best. This model is exceptional. The sleek monocoque body reminds you of a stingray found in the ocean or a stealth bomber. The LED bulb and housing are like an eye from a Star Trek capsule. The body is made from stainless, and the blades are made from plastic that enables them to be strong yet light. The powerful DC motor provides a super quiet operation. Casablanca fans are known for years of dependable use which is why it includes a lifetime motor warranty, and a one year parts and electronics warranty.I have been converting my entire house over to LED bulbs because they last next to forever and consume the absolute least amount of electricity and this Model 59144 comes with the optional LED light kit. It doesn't stop there. The remote control offers 6 fan speeds. It also has light dimming, as well as reverse functionality right from the remote. If you don't want to have a light, a no light cap is included. There is a 9" down rod includes. There is also a 36" down rod that is optionally available. You also have the option to mount it flush to mount it flush, standard, or angled. When installing be sure to mount this into a box that is designed for fan support, and not just a ceiling light box. It should be either directly mounted to a ceiling joist, or to a fan rated outlet box which is then attached to a ceiling structure. If possible and you have access from an attic the best thing to do is install a wooden 2x4 for example cross brace between two ceiling joists. If the slope of your ceiling is greater than 34 degrees you will require an angled mounting kit. The beauty of ceiling fan designs is that they include as does this one the bracket that directly attaches to the ceiling is designed as a mounting cup with one side open. This enables you to lift the fan with the bulb like end up over the lip and drop it into the center of the bracket. Since it is down into the cup and open you can easily access your wiring chores while it sits in place. It is a good idea to either have or acquire a good power tester to make sure the electricity is turned off when you flip the breaker. The Fluke model is the one to have. It is relatively inexpensive and preferred choice from the professionals.Installation instructions are pretty straight forward. Fortunately the included owner’s manual not only has pictorial displays of every step of the way, there is also written instructions in each section and right on each drawing/photo. If you have any questions there is also an 800 number printed right in the manual that puts you through to tech support. It is suggested that this fan mount at least 30 inches from the nearest wall, and 7 feet from the bottom of the blade to the floor. Figure the distance from the ceiling to blade bottom doing a flush mount is 13 inches, and on a standard installation using the included 9” flush rod it is 19”. Part of the rod distance is absorbed into the body etc. so it only adds another 6” to the overall height. To show you how efficient this fan it is it only draws 6 watts on the low speed, while delivering 3,448 CFM cubic feet per minute. That is the advantage of a high quality fan that is this large. You get a lot of air movement even at minimum speeds. The medium speed delivers around 5000 CFM drawing only 14 watts, and the high speed delivers about 6700 CFM while consuming only 32 watts. So the slow moving setting provides the most efficiency per watt at 616 CFM per watt. A slow moving fan sets a mood. It not only lightens the mood with the air it moves, it also has a tranquil feeling to it. Think of the movie Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, yeah that kind of smooth.I've replaced all my ceiling fans since I moved in, mostly with Casablanca fans, which is a company owned by Hunter Fan.All of them are excellent, but this one even more so.There is no cheesy "remote fan module" that you have to wire up and somehow manage to stuff into the tiny space at the ceiling. This one has the remote functions built-in.There is an LED light at the bottom, and while it looks small is actually both very bright and a warm, soft light. One of my other ceiling fans (not Casablanca) has an intense, harsh bright light that makes me feel like I'm being interrogated. Not this one.The fan blades are not just designed for looks. The center aims air straight down, and the larger blades angle it outward, but not too far. This thing pushes air very efficiently. The appearance. This is not a fan that is going to blend into the background. It looks a lot like the aliens in the video game Prey, and they were not meant to look warm and cuddly. It kind of looks like it might attack. I like that. Make sure you do too before ordering it.It was harder to install than most fans. Not having to deal with the remote module was nice, but because the fan blades have no visible screws means you have to hold the blade unit up while trying to put in screws that you can't really see. I recommend two people. I got through it by adding an extra day and bourbon. Not necessarily in that order. One of the few fans - or anything - I would give a full five stars to. It is wonderful and fully deserving of the rating.Sean Logue, 2018This is a beautiful modern fan with clean lines. I'm using it indoors in a mid-Century modern style home. I think it fits nicely. It is an easy install for someone who knows how to do these things - in my case, my dad. I like that there are no cords hanging from it and that you can change your speeds with the remote while just sitting in your chair. I love the look and think it's a good quality fan. I do believe it is a little pricey for the style and makeup. I've only spent this much on a fan once. I bought it 10 years ago and it's running well now so I don't mind that I spent that much - it was also much more ornate with more features. I am happy to have the look of this one though - it actually makes a statement in the room - the price may be just a little steep.
