My previous review is below, in it I explained that the unit didn't respond well to input from the remote. I initiated a return, wrote this review, and then the seller reached out to me about the problem I was having. He determined that there was a wire that has to be pushed through one of the holes on the housing in order to pick up the signal from the remote, and that probably this was the problem. I unpacked the fans again, found the wire, and reinstalled them on the ceiling with this wire property positioned. It worked! I appreciate the seller working with me to hunt down and solve this problem, and showing good customer service. I installed both fans, they're working well, and we're happy with them. The fact that the fan blades are contained is exactly what we wanted for a kid bedroom with a bunk bed, and is a good solution for that sort of situation. It does still take 2 people to install this fan - know this ahead of time and plan for it.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~What I liked:It has several options you can cycle through for color temperature on the lightIt (kind of) directs the air around the room as this round register in the middle rotatesWhat I didn't like:Takes 3 hands to installWe have other fans with infrared remotes, and you can be like 20 feet away and they work. This one you could be a foot away, reaching up to the ceiling, or laying on the top bunk and it doesn't respond to 90% of the button presses. We got this so that the moving parts of the fan were contained and safer around kids, particularly in a top bunk, but sitting on the floor, pointing the remote at the fan 7 feet above, resulted in zero percent success. I had put brand new batteries in the remote, but just to be sure I made a trip to the hardware store to buy a new set of batteries. No improvement. This failure of the remote makes it unusable to the children who would have been using it in their bedroom. We're sending it back. I'm giving it two stars rather than one because other than the remote problem it seems alright, but idk how you could get around the fact that it's almost non-functional, maybe 2 stars is generous.By the way, the instructions tell you to mount it to the ceiling with plastic drywall anchors. I've installed a few fans before and never seen this sort of mounting, and I'm not sure if a building inspector was involved that they'd accept that.Great addition to a Children’s room with bunk beds.Great buy, much more modern looking and a great addition to my daughters room!I ended up not liking the fan...just looked too plastic. It was difficult to return. The seller wanted me to keep it for a $15 credit. I had to pay almost $100 in shipping. I expect easier returns from anyone selling on Amazon. The fan was of poor quality for the price. It was advertised to be flush mount but was not. Upon my request to return, was surprised that I have to pay shipping to return it.DamagedIf I could give it 10 ?. I would. You can't hear the fan running at all
